Sara turned 1!

On Friday, July 3rd my little Huggy-B had her first birthday. The first birthday is a bittersweet one. It's kind of symbolizes the end of the sleepless nights and the crying and fussing but it's also representative of your child growing into a squirmy toddler and not being your cuddley, little baby anymore *sniff, sniff*.

We had a small party at our house on Friday evening. We wanted to keep it small so we only invited family. Clare was in town so we got to see her and her cute family and Erika and her cute family came, too. Speaking of Erika, bless her little heart, she came early and helped me bake cakes and pull pork and decorate. My mom and Clare got there early, too and helped out but Erika wins the prize hardest worker. Aside from the fact that I turned my entire house into an oven by running the oven all day, the party was nice.

I decided to go with a red, white and blue theme since her birthday is the day before the 4th of July but I used turquoise and bright pink instead of blue and red.

Here's the cake. Her cousins helped her blow out the candles.

She got her own small cake. Tearing into the cake is all part of the fun of the first birthday but no one wants to eat cake that a one year old has dug around in. It took her a little while to figure out what to do with the cake . . .
Once she figured out this trick though, she had a good time.
She had lots of help with her presents. : )
And she got lots of super nice presents. "This big belly sho' does get heavy, you mind if I sit there beside you?"Here's the whole gang. L to R: Erika with Lily, Clare with Jezebel, Holly with Kailey and Eli, and me with Allison and Sara.

The party was so cute and it was great to see everyone! My favorite pic is the one of Sara actually biting the cake. So, does this mean you're gonna come help me with Lily's party???? Just kidding!

Adorable party! The color combo was fantastic- I love how you incorperated a 4th of july feel without going a traditional red, white and blue route. Very creative and fun!

Oh and happy happy birthday little Sara- you are such a cutie!

P.S. I love the little picture collage at the top- did you do that in adobe photoshop or some other program?

Erika, the answer is yes and I'm not kidding.

Lexi, I actually just used Picassa. They have an easy little collage creator.

I love your decorations! Now it is time for you to have another one, since you are starting to miss some of the baby things.
